If your child has a cavity, then our dentists, Dr. Morgan, Dr. Allman, and Dr. Compton, strongly encourage you to call Rockwall Pediatric Dentistry and schedule an appointment. The sooner you get the cavity treated, the better. In fact, if you ignore the cavity, it can spread to infect more of the tooth. It can even infect the surrounding teeth if it gets bad enough. It’s important to get it treated right away.

When you bring your child in for their visit, our dentist will consider a variety of different treatments to help your child. Each treatment will vary depending on the severity of the cavity. Some treatments available include:

-Fluoride treatments: Fluoride can strengthen the tooth enamel and reverse the cavity. However, this is only the case at the very early stages of the cavity-developing process. The fluoride will seep into the enamel and essentially rebuild it.

-Dental filling treatment: An amalgam or composite dental filling can be used to restore the tooth. Your dentist will remove the decayed sections of the tooth, will clean the tooth, will fill the tooth hole with the filling, and will solidify the filling with a special dental light.

-Dental crown treatment: Dental crowns are used when the cavity is more extensive. They are tooth-shaped caps that replace the enamel and restore the health and function of the tooth.
