We are pleased to provide orthodontic treatment in Rockwall and Heath, Texas. Malocclusions, or bad bites, are an aspect of development that can be identified as early as 2 or 3 years old. Generally, Drs. Morgan, Allman, and Compton can perform treatments that will reduce the need for major orthodontic work at a later age. There are three stages to orthodontic care in pediatrics:

Stage 1: Early treatment– This planning stage in treatment includes ages 2 to 6 years old. At this young age, we are focused on looking for underdeveloped dental arches, the premature loss of primary teeth, and harmful habits such as finger or thumb sucking. It is common for most treatments initiated during this period to be successful in eliminating the need for future orthodontic or orthopedic care.

Stage 2: Mixed Dentition– This active area of treatment encompasses children ages 6 to 12 years old having had their permanent incisor (front) teeth and 6 year molars erupt. Our doctors then will target jaw malrelatonships and dental realignment concerns. This is generally an optimal time to start treatments as the child’s hard and soft tissues are highly responsive to any orthodontic work.

Stage 3: Adolescent Dentition–  This period of orthodontic care is meant to help retain all preceding treatments. Here we deal with the permanent teeth and the development of the final bite relationship. Retention is a life-long process, and can be achieved with retainers and a sense of responsibility.
